Specialty-Hipps-Integrated-System:
HIPPS Valves
According to PetrolValves experience there are different types of valves suitable for HIPPS application:
AXIAL FLOW

Main Features:
-
Short stroke required to achieve the maximum flow capacity.
-
No contact between seat and plug during opening/closing stroke.
-
Quick Closing is the key feature of this valve type.
-
Sealing area not directly exposed to throttling for long-life tight seal.
-
Pressure balanced plug requires low energy to operate the valve.
-
Good fluid-dynamic behavior for a low pressure drop.
SLAB GATE

Main Features:
-
Through conduit: negligible pressure drop, no turbulence, not subject to erosion in operation (valve open), pigable.
-
Flat seat-to-gate sealing area: it is robust & relatively abrasion resistant (low and uniform contact stress).
-
Pressure assisted stroke: the stem ejection force helps ‘failsafe’ stroke (smaller actuator size).
-
Easy in-line maintenance: (top-entry design).
-
Double Barrier Seal’ design available.
TOP ENTRY/SIDE ENTRY BALL VALVE

Main Features:
-
Through conduit: negligible pressure drop, no turbulence, not subject to erosion in operation (valve open), pigable.
-
Relatively low energy required to stroke the valve: reduced size, reduced swept volume of actuator.
-
Relatively quick operation: Quarter turn (90°) stroke.
-
Stay-put: valve remains stably in position, even when the actuator is removed.
-
Easy in-line maintenance: (top-entry type).
